Caesarea
Travel along the Mediterranean Coast and visit one of Israel's major tourist attractions—the ancient city of Caesarea, built by Herod the Great more than 2,000 years ago. Formerly a crusader fortification, Caesarea is home to ancient harbor ruins, beautiful sun-soaked beaches, and the Roman hippodrome and amphitheater, this well-preserved city allows travelers to take a step back in time and experience the life of Phoenicians, and later on, the Greeks.
Boat ride on the Sea of Galilee
Many stunning natural sites within Israel hold religious significance, one being the Sea of Galilee, known in Hebrew as the Kinneret. This freshwater lake and its surroundings are best known for the locations of Jesus' ministry and many of His miracles. Cross the calm waters of the lake in a boat similar to one in which He would have traveled, to Capernaum, where Jesus began His public ministry, recruited four fishermen as His first disciples, and delivered the Sermon on the Mount.
Qumran
Settled upon an barren plateau overlooking the Dead Sea, Qumran is a fascinating historic site that is most famously known for housing a series of mysterious caves in which scriptures -including the oldest known existing copy of the Old Testament- were stored. These ancient scriptures are now well known as the Dead Sea Scrolls. The discovery of these caves and the Dead Sea Scrolls was one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in history. Qumran tells an interesting historic story, and offers some amazing exploration opportunities for travelers alike.
Ein Gedi
Hike through one of the most popular nature sites in the country, Ein Gedi. This natural reserve in Israel is truly an oasis, full of natural springs, flourishing blossoms, and vibrant balsam and fertility. With the abundance of natural life and being one of only two fresh water springs located on the western shore of the Dead Sea, it is believed that En Gedi supported a significant settlement at that time. The area was allotted to the tribe of Judah, and was famous in the time of Solomon. Additionally, Ein Gedi served as one of the main places of refuge for David as he fled from Saul.
The Garden Tomb
Discover the Garden Tomb, the site of Christian worship located in the heart of historic Jerusalem. Stroll along this peaceful and reflective garden and take in several historical interests, including an ancient Jewish tomb which many believe is the site of Jesus of Nazareth's burial and resurrection as well as where Jesus was crucified at "the Skull". While you walk through this historic garden, explore the opportunity to experience an encounter with the living Messiah today.
Be'it Shean
Discover one of the oldest excavated cities in Israel, Beit She'an. This ancient city, among the best examples of Greco-Roman architecture in the Middle East, is best known as the site where King Saul and his sons were hung from the city walls. Immerse yourself in the history of Israel through the archaeological remains from each historic period at the main attraction in Beit Shean - the Archaeological National Park where the remains of the Canaanite and Egyptian cities are also found. Travelers truly take a step back in time as the excavations and reconstructions offer a clear picture of how the city looked and how people lived thousands of years ago.
Massada
Embark on your journey to Israel's national treasure - Masada. Overlooking the Dead Sea, Masada is a natural fortress built upon a barren mountainous plateau and is an exceptional archaeological site to explore. Discover the site where Herod the Great built Masada as a castle complex, and later became a fortress for the Jewish people. Now an Israeli national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the majestically beautiful complex holds well-preserved ruins that illustrate the history of the ancient kingdom of Israel and the incredible courage of its people. Come upon this journey to see how this historic place that was once filled with despair, has since become a beacon of freedom.
The Western Wall
Journey to the Old City of Jerusalem and listen closely to the soft chanting of Hebrew prayers at the Western Wall. Discover why thousands visit this sacred and holy wall every year to speak or write down a prayer of their own. Once enclosing and supporting the Second Temple, this last remnant of the wall has also been called the "Wailing Wall" due to Jews having gathered here to lament the loss of their temple. See for yourself why the Western Wall is a sight and experience that cannot be missed.
Nazareth
Located in Israel's Galilee region on the steep slope of a hill, Nazareth is home to fascinating cultural sites as well as experiences to cherish. Most famously known for being the area where Mary and Joseph settled and the childhood home of Jesus, you'll be immersed in history as you come along and explore the largest Arab city in the country, which today serves as a regional market and trade center for the Arabs of Galilee.
Old City Jerusalem
At the heart of the Jewish, Islamic and Christian religions, Old City is a must-see destination for travelers alike. From the Western Wall to the Church of the Sepulcher, Old City is full of biblical history that is divided into four quarters; The Jewish Quarter, The Armenian Quarter, The Christian Quarter, and The Muslim Quarter. Each quarter holding its own significance, you'll be taking a step back in time as you discover pieces of ancient history in each area of this incredible place.
